Listening to podcasts has literally changed my life! I have grown so much as a person since I started listening to podcasts, and I recommend giving them a try. I listen to while getting ready in the morning, driving alone in my car, scrolling on Pinterest, and getting ready for bed. Podcasts are an amazing way to hear new perspectives and learn, as well as help ground yourself. I have split my favorites into categories; self-help, entertainment, relationships, and health.
Self-Help
1. Thick and Thin
This podcast is absolutely amazing. The host, Katy Bellotte, is a twenty-something sharing the truths about life in New York City, her college experience, and adds some history. Coming from a history nerd in college who loves New York City, this is the perfect podcast for me. Some of my favorite episodes are "The fear of being lonely" and "Toxic relationships & Zelda Fitzgerald." Katy Bellotte also has a voice made for the radio, I could listen to her podcasts all day.
2. Kalyn's Coffee Talk
Similar to Katy, Kalyn is incredibly wise for her young age. She shares her insight on her yoga journey, as well as amazing life advice. I am personally trying to get into yoga and meditation, and Kalyn is an amazing example. She, like me, loves hot coffee and making yourself the best you can be. My favorite episodes include "You ARE the Party" and "Calming Your Inner World (PT1)" Most of them are traditional podcasts, but a few (including "Calming Your Inner World (PT1)" ) are meditations that I would recommend trying.
3. Taking Back Your Power
In this podcast, Isabel Palacios shares her insight into being the strong force in your life. She discusses many topics, including the law of attraction, meditation, and positive self-talk. I have been really getting into spiritually recently, so this is one of my favorites. I feel like Isabel always knows exactly what to say.
Entertainment
1. My Favorite Murder
If you are anything like me and secretly like to listen to true crime and murder stories this is the perfect podcast for you. Georgia and Karen do an amazing job of making me feel like I'm not crazy. They have so many crazy murder stories and they are soooo funny. I would really recommend giving it a try.
2. Royally Obsessed
I love the royal family, I would almost say I'm obsessed so this is an amazing podcast. Kaitlyn and Lisa always give me the best updates on Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton that I didn't know I needed, but so do.
Relationships
1. Girls Gotta Eat
This was the first podcast I listened to and I am still OBSESSED. I love Ashley and Rayna are so funny and know so much about dating and relationships. I feel like I learn so much from them and always laugh out loud when listening. If you are just getting into podcasts, I would recommend giving this one a try.
2. Call Her Daddy
In my opinion, this is a more graphic version of "Girls Gotta Eat" because it is still dating advice, but Alex and Sofia go into a lot of detail. I would recommend listening to this when you are alone because it's not something you always people to overhear. While Alex and Sofia and very funny, I prefer "Girls Gotta Eat"
3. I Don't Get It
I love the bachelor franchise and Ashley I is one of my favorite people, so no wonder I love her podcast. She gives amazing advice and is very relatable. Not only did she go to the same school as me (Roll Dukes Babyyy) but she was also a late bloomer. I love to see how happy she is now and know that there is hope for all of us.
Health
1. The Health Code
Not only do Sarah and Kurt have the most beautiful Australian accents on the planet, but they also have amazing health advice. I love that it's not just eating and working out, but they discuss meditation, productivity, and eating/ working out.
Learning
1. This Day in History Class
As I mentioned earlier, I am a history nerd and I love learning about history. This Day in History is a perfect way to get your daily dose of history. With a podcast coming out every day explain a historic event hat happened that day, it is a great way to learn.
2. Ted Talks Daily
Also coming out every day, I love listening to Daily Ted Talks. As an audio version of Ted talks, they are a great way to learn without pulling up youtube and watching a video. They are also very short so they are perfect for a quicker commute or a morning getting ready.
I Want to try
So I haven't listened to these yet (more than one episode for some) so I can't tell you a lot about them, but I'll try my best.
1. Rise Podcast
Rachel Hollis, Author of Girl, Wash Your Face and Girl, Stop Apologizing explains her advice and sometimes even reads a chapter of her book!
2. Yung Daddy
As a beloved guest on Girls Gotta Eat, Lev has his own podcast that I would love to listen to because I always love the episodes of GGE when he is a guest
I hope I have inspired you guys to listen to podcasts. Also, I listen on the Apple Podcasts app but you can also listen to them on spotify and a few other podcast apps. With Apple Podcasts its free and super easy (and this isn't sponsored but hi Apple please sponsor me).
