I was born and raised in a DC suburb, so I have been visiting our nation's capital for as long as I can remember. While there is so much to see, do and eat in DC (look out for future posts on that) DC also has some amazing photo spots.

Galleries/ Museums/ Gardens

Brianne

1. The Botanical Gardens an not only an amazing place to get flower pictures in the winter (the one to the left was taken in January) but it is also an amazing place to warm up on a cold day. Located right next to the capital building it is easy to get to and so worth it for the pics

Me

2. The Museum of Modern Art is located near all of the other Smithsonian museums has amazing open ceiling and wonderful art for you to create more art around. While you're at it, go through the underground tunnel to the other wing to see older art

3. The Renwick Gallery is another modern art museum and part of the Smithsonian, but it is located closer to the white house. With exits always changing, the Renwick can be hit or miss in my opinion. If you get a good exhibit, you can get amazing pictures!

Monuments and Memorials

Me at Senior Prom

1.The Jefferson Memorial has beautiful marble, and from other angles, you can see the Washington Monument and the reflection pool. With large columns and a water view, this is a go-to spot for prom pictures at my old high school. If your visiting in the spring I would recommend visiting most monuments ether earlier in the day or mid-week to avoid the prom crowd that comes in the spring on Friday and Saturday nights.

Me

2.The WW2 memorial has a beautiful fountain, as well as monuments for all 50 states. If you're from the US, its always fun to get a picture with your state. Also with a view of the Washington memorial and Lincoln monument, its a great place for pictures.

Georgetown

1. The waterfront has obviously beautiful water views, but you can also see Rosslyn. VA (an Urban neighborhood in Arlington that has amazing skyline views). This is one of the most popular Georgetown photo spots.

2. Georgetown is full of super cute and safe alleys that can get you some amazing pictures. Just walking up and down M street you will find amazing views, but a block up or down you can find quiet alleys full of color, texture, and picture potential.

3.Georgetown (and all over the city for that matter) there are some amazing photo walls. One of my favorites is this blue brick wall located a block up from M street. I am going to be completely honest and say I'm not sure exactly what street it is, but my guess is around 30th street.

Others

Me and Cathrine at Cappies

1. The Kennedy center has always been one of my favorite photo spots. As a theatre kid, I went to many shows at the Kennedy Center as well as went to Cappies (huge theatre awards show) every year in high school. We would always take pictures on the balcony. Whether you are seeing a show or just looking for an amazing photo spot, the Kennedy center balcony has always been one of my favorites.

My Sister Julianne

2. Meridian Hill Park is maybe my favorite hidden gem of DC. This European style park has a beautiful fountain as well as a field perfect for furry friends. In the neighborhood of Columbia Heights its also near Adams Morgan (another great neighborhood for pics). The pictures I have don't do the park justice, as we went in the winter and in the summer it literally looks like a fairy tale. Also usually pretty empty, this is one of my favorite spots in DC.

I hope this inspires you to take your camera and friends and go into DC. Also, every location I mentioned is free. Thats right, its all free babyyyy! So enjoy

xoxo,

Gracie
